Alwood Sisters

Alwood Sisters

Indie Folk (Columbus, Ohio)

Amy and Meagan Alwood followed in the footsteps of their father (a Columbus musician/songwriter) and formed “family band” (or, famban,” as they helpfully offer) Allwood Sisters. Initially just a duo, the family expanded in 2007, when the sisters were joined by brothers (not theirs) Jovan and Milan Karcic, also part of a rich musical lineage that includes their own work with Columbus greats Scrawl, Gaunt and the Haynes Boys. The Allwood Sisters’ full(er)-band debut, Black Falcon and the Forest Spirit, is a whispering, haunted swoon of Indie Folk with poetic and cinematic implications.

You’ll Dig It If You Dig: The ghost of Nico and VU find genius again in an after-hours speakeasy where the lights are barely on, the music hangs in the smoke, the mood is even lighter and the absinthe flows freely. (Mike Breen, CityBeat)
