Browngrass and Wildflowers

Americana (Rabbit Hash, Ky.)

Browngrass and Wildflowers is the brainchild of veteran Cincy music hero, David Rhodes Brown, whose album of the same name showcased the wide-breadth of the multi-instrumentalist’s talents and a mastery of the Americana/Roots music form. B&W the “troupe” is a flexible ensemble that joins Brown — whose past work with acts like Warsaw Falcons is still revered, though he’s never rested on those laurels, performing as occasional sideman with local acts like Roots rockers 500 Miles to Memphis and many others — for live performances. (The band manifests itself in various formats, as a three-piece, quintet or even larger ensemble.) Brown also parlayed Browngrass into a Roots music fest that benefits local public radio outlet WNKU-FM.
