Indie Rock (Cincinnati)
Some might think we’d get bored to dry tears describing the same bands year after year. We do not. Let’s clarify things a bit more specifically; we will never run out of superlatives to lavish upon the live juggernaut known as Buckra. A 2010 CEA nominee for Best Live Act — nearly a dozen years into their amazing career — Buckra continues to gyrate wildly at the intersection of Zoot Suit Riot and Indie Rock Frenzy, swinging like a playground in a horror movie insane asylum and swaggering like Mick Jagger after a cocaine-and-Red-Bull enema. Guitar heroics, a rhythm section that would drop the jaws of the Funk Brothers, serious humor, hilarious gravity, sweat, sex and the sweet afterglow of all of the above. That’s Buckra, bitch. Get some.
You’ll Dig It If You Dig: Ballroom dancing or dancing to make room for your balls. Oh, and adrenalized, Swingabilly groove Pop with the express intent of seeing your ass danced off. (Brian Baker, CityBeat)
~ "Cincinnati's Buckra are the kind of band who understand that tonight is way more important than tomorrow. In other words, this is not the kind of outfit who'll pack it in early-these guys will close the bar, wear out college students and drive home happily by dawn. Put together with sly humor, swinging swagger and true rock and roll nerve." (Alex Green, Caught in the Carousel)
