Electro Garage Rock (Cincinnati)
Other than a bass that sounds astonishingly like a shredding guitar, there are no guitars in Eat Sugar. But just because the quartet relies on keyboards to make their sonic point, don’t expect a bunch of poindexters with laptops playing programmed beats while they smoke clove cigarettes and watch the audience watch them. Eat Sugar is a Rock band in every meaningful sense of the phrase, from the thundering (human) rhythm section to the hellhound vocals to the raw and raucous post-Punk garage ethic. And they have come to make you dance and sweat.
You’ll Dig It If You Dig: Well, it’s sure as hell not Afrika Bambaataa and Lady Gaga, but it might be akin to the Greenhornes if they’d been obsessed with Brainiac. (Brian Baker, CityBeat)
