Indie Rock (Cincinnati)
It seems like it’s been a decade and a half since the first incarnation of Fairmount Girls took up their banner and burst onto the scene with the force of a late summer hurricane. 1996, you say? It has been a decade and a half, then. The Girls have endured numerous line-up shifts (former Afghan Whigs soundman Steve Girton is the latest in the bass role), and yet their three albums to date form an interesting and consistent evolutionary path from Pixies squall to Pretenders fist pump. Even though they‘ve never gone away, the Girls are back in town.
