Singer/songwriter Jason Wells has been ahead of the curve a few times with his long-running project, for algernon, predating Indie Rock’s embrace of folksy music and orchestral flourishes by several years. A fantastically evocative songwriter from the start, for algernon has been a versatile outlet for Wells, whose collaborations with various musicians have shaped the sound of each release. Demos from his next recording project show incredible promise — even in raw form, they’re some of the best songs in Wells’ already-impressive catalog.
