Country/Folk (Columbus, Ohio)
Lydia Loveless will make you want to start playing guitar if you aren’t a musician or put yours down forever if you are. Her music and lyricism harken back to days of classic Rockabilly, with gut wrenchingly beautiful songs about life, love, loss and libations. You may be surprised at Loveless’ age (the faint Sharpie Xs on her hands should give you an idea), but when she starts to sing and play, her age will be the farthest thing from your mind. It’ll be replaced with awe. And a little bit of jealousy.
You’ll Dig It If You Dig: Loving Johnny Cash but wishing he was a cute girl instead of The Man in Black. (Nick Grever, CityBeat)
~ "[Lydia Loveless] manages to conjure up both Exene and Neko Case." (Washington Post)
~ "Lydia Loveless is the heir apparent of Loretta Lynn." (Twangville)
