Singer/songwriter Mike Golden makes upbeat, stomp-your-feet jams for fans to clap along with, whether he’s playing solo or with his rotating full band. Though largely built on the drive of his acoustic strumming, in full-band mode, Golden’s tracks of late been more full-bodied and textural. Either way, the songs are inviting and energizing. Live, Golden and Co. use various non-traditional instruments to create the percussive surge — with no bass or drums, they utilize beer bottles or whatever else is nearby that might help feed the pulse.
