Casual party chat between Henry Wilson and Cameron Cochran at a backyard get together three years ago resulted in two amazing outcomes. The Recording Label, a free download label-like entity, was a fascinating outgrowth of the conversation, but the duo’s musical output as the guitar-and-laptop-slinging Pop Empire was the more concrete accomplishment. Combining sampledelic technology with old school Garage Rock, Synth Pop and raucous Blues, Pop Empire bows to the past and kicks open the door to the future with one simultaneous martial arts move.
