State Song

State Song

Rock/Post Punk (Cincinnati)

By early 2009, most Greater Cincinnati music lovers who had seen State Song perform live were already under the trio’s spell. The following year, the band brilliantly captured their humbly epic songs and their hypnotic pull on the very first State Song full-length, Dear Hearts and Gentle People. The songs of State Song roll like clouds over an Irish hillside one minute, then gush like Niagra Falls, the movement and fluidity matched by remarkably evocative, aching vocals and lyrical introspection.

You’ll Dig It If You Dig: That cough syrup dream where you swore you heard Radiohead’s Kid A being played by a young but wizened and old-souled Sunny Day Real Estate and arranged by Doug Martsch; J. Mascis guest conducts. (Mike Breen, CityBeat)
