Indie Rock/Americana (Cincinnati)
Ten years ago, Jason Snell pushed back against the incresasing complexity of the experimentalism of Readymaid by writing in a more direct style. Those songs eventually became the first Chocolate Horse album, 2007’s Patience Works!, followed two years later by the sublime and ornately produced We Don’t Stand on Ceremony. The Chocolate Horse’s just-released third album, the beautifully atmospheric Beasts, represents the band’s adept ability to conceptualize grandly while executing simply. Exciting in the studio, heart-stopping on stage.
You’ll Dig It If You Dig: The Indie Rock vibe of Pearl Jam, the Rock classicism of Jack Bruce, a rag and bone collection of Prog, British Folk and sweet ’70s Rock. (Brian Baker, CityBeat)
