Americana/Country/Rock (Cold Spring, Ky.)
One of the finer Roots outfits in the Greater Cincinnati area, The Kentucky Struts hit their stride early on, but have still managed to get better with each passing year. Built on solid songwriting informed by Country and Folk classics (but never coming off overly retro and restrained by genre guidelines) and a Rock & Roll spirit, the Struts’ sound is always distinguished by their own personalized spin. The group’s latest project shows some creative marketing acumen as well — in this, “The Year of the Horse,” the band has been unveiling a single song each month, along with commissioned equestrian-themed art pieces that correspond (some proceeds from the sale of the album, released in full at the end of the year, will got to a horse rescue charity).
