Indie Rock (New York City)
In his native Minnesota, Bret Rodysill assembled a group of local luminaries to create the quasi-supergroup The Record Summer. It was a natural progression for a guy who started playing and writing as a teenager and was playing legendary venues like CBGBs and Madison Square Garden at 19. As evidence by the Record Summer’s 2010 full length, Race to the Bottom, Rodysill knows his way around heartfelt Pop odes and raucous Rock anthems and has the emotional chops and focused energy to deliver either with equal passion.
