Psychedelic Indie Pop (Columbus, Ohio)
Two years ago, Jason (Matthew) Kusowski began writing songs beyond the scope of his Garage Rock group, The Nuclear Children, and conceived a new band (a sextet with the haunting female counterpoint vocals of Chelsea Moore) to execute his massive vision. Since last summer, The Spruce Campbells have released a quartet of four-song EPs, the fifth and final EP is imminent and a complete collection of all 20 songs plus six B-sides will soon be assembled as The Bipolar Coordinates. It’s swirling, thematic and compelling contemporary Psychedelia, and hopefully just the first volley for the cryptic and fascinating Spruce Campbells.
You’ll Dig It If You Dig: Danny Elfman scores a film about The Dandy Warhols and they write songs for the film about Danny Elfman. (Brian Baker, CityBeat)
